I did a quick search on ebay for the 'technical' manuals for this machine, but nothing came up.

I am assuming CIH does make a manual for the dealer's service technicians. Does anyone know of the proper name for these manuals? Are they readily available? Posted 2/27/2007 08:21 (#111810 - in reply to #111805) Subject: Re: axial flow combine service manual New Madrid, MO seems like it is called a tech service manual, but I could be wrong. I have a parts manual for it if you would be interested. Posted 2/27/2007 08:50 (#111828 - in reply to #111805) Subject: They are available. Or they were anyway.

It's a 2 part book for my 1680. I got mine from the dealer through the parts dept. I suppose you can save a few bucks on ebay etc., but it paid for itself the first time used. You probably allready know this or feel this way, but I'll say it anyway. It is just my opinion, but once you have the manual, to get the most out of it, a little further investment in a few odd tools needed for diagnosis etc., are worth while. For instance I bought a small hydraulic flow meater with a low psi pressure guage for testing the pto clutch pressures, which proper tolerances are posted in the manual. Before I bought it, I asked the local CaseIH co-op if they had one and I would pay them to come out and run the test.HUH???, what test??

I pointed it out in the service manual. Further reply was 'we did'nt know you could test that'. After searching and calling their other stores, they became aware they do not have such a meter.:- ( Buying one and running the test proved that the clutch was fine and that the 'slipping' feeling I felt was in fact the injector pump on the engine. They have operaters, service and parts manuals for about anything. They are not that high and get them to you fast. For parts go to CaseIH website click on parts and you get the same parts book as the dealer uses. I inquired at Jensales.

When looking on their website tractor manuals and such are advertized but nothing for combines, emailed a request for 1680 combine service manual. Steve at Jensales contacted me.

Repair manual 8-29186 $296.95. I have not seen this manual, but usually Jensales manual's are a replica of the factory orginals. I have ordered tractor manuals from them, not knowing they had combine manuals. Also their phone # 800-443-0625. 10 years ago I bought the shop manual and parts manual from my dealer for less than $100 each. $700 is a total rip off. Anyone ask how they justify that kind of increase?? Posted 2/27/2007 18:17 (#112080 - in reply to #112056) Subject: Re: axial flow combine service manual Lincoln County. NC -gotta change the mapdot. All manufacturers are on this bandwagon.

I paid well over $400 for the service amnual set for a Deere 7410 tractor and have nothing covering the engine which is separate. I have a New Holland BR740A round baler on order and the list on the service manual for it is over $400. But as a former service tech I know even at these prices it pays to own them if you have the time, tools, and diagnostic mentality to make use of them.

Of course we need to explore every option of availability when we can. I helped another poster here a week or so back and proved that Jensales wanted a huge premium on a couple operator's manuals that are still readily available from Deere. Jump to forum:.
